DETAILS EMERGE IN FLORIDA A&M KILLING, OFFICER SHOT MAN 10 TIMES

BRAD MERRIMAN – JOURNALIST – TACD NEWS – New details are emerging about the final moments of Johnathan Ferrell’s life.  Ferrell was involved in a motor vehicle accident Saturday night when his vehicle slid down a ravine.  Ferrell escaped his vehicle by kicking out the back window.  He ran to a nearby residence where the occupant refused to let the young man in her home, she instead called 911 reporting a man repeatedly knocking at her door.

When police arrived, Ferrell ran towards them, one officer used a stun gun which did not seem to stop him.  Officer Randall Kerrick pulled out his service revolver and fired 12 times, striking Ferrell 10 times, killing him immediately.

The  Charlotte-Mecklenburg Sheriff’s Office released a statement regarding the vehicle accident saying “It was a pretty serious accident.” The Sheriff’s Office spokesman went on to say, “The evidence revealed that Mr. Ferrell did advance on Officer Kerrick and the investigation showed that the subsequent shooting of Mr. Ferrell was excessive,” police said in a statement. “Our investigation has shown that Officer Kerrick did not have a lawful right to discharge his weapon during this encounter.”

Officer Kerrick is free on $50,000 dollars bond after being arrested for voluntary manslaughter.
